The previous version is available in Japanese only: Version effective March 10, 2014.
The operator (the "Operator") of the anime tracking service "Annict" (the "Service") sets out the conditions for using the Service as these Terms of Service (these "Terms") as follows.
You need to agree to these Terms to use the Service.
This English version is a translation of the Japanese original.
If there is any discrepancy in interpretation between the Japanese version and the English version, the Japanese version prevails.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
Article 1 (Application)
These Terms apply to all relationships between the Operator and users regarding the use of the Service.
When you use the API of the Service, the API Terms of Use apply in addition to these Terms.
If the explanations on the screens or in the Help of the Service differ from these Terms, these Terms prevail.
Article 2 (Definitions)
The terms used in these Terms have the following meanings:
- User: an individual or a legal entity that has registered with the Service in accordance with Article 3 (Registration)
- Posted data: what users post to or send through the Service (records, reviews, comments, images, and so on)
- Writing: includes not only paper documents but also electromagnetic records such as email

Manage your own authentication information under your own responsibility.
Do not let a third party use, lend, transfer, or sell your authentication information.
You bear any damage caused by insufficient management of your authentication information or by its use by a third party.

Article 8 (Ownership of Rights)
Intellectual property rights relating to the Service (rights such as copyrights, patent rights, and trademark rights, and the rights to obtain these rights or to apply for their registration) belong to the Operator or to those who license their use to the Operator.
Permitting you to use the Service under these Terms does not license you to use these intellectual property rights.
The copyright in posted data remains with the user who posted it.
You warrant to the Operator that you have the legitimate right to post your posted data and that your posted data does not infringe the rights of any third party.
You license the Operator to use your posted data (including reproducing, making it public, and adapting it) free of charge, without limitation of period or region, to the extent necessary for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service (including providing it through the API)

You permit other users to view and use your posted data through the features of the Service.
You will not exercise moral rights of author against the Operator or against those who have succeeded to rights from the Operator or received a license from the Operator.
Article 9 (Deletion of Registration, etc.)
If a user falls under any of the following, the Operator may, without prior notice or demand, delete their posted data, temporarily suspend their use of the Service, or delete their registration and cancel the Service Agreement:
- When the user violates these Terms
- When the registration is found to contain false information
- When the user does not respond to an inquiry or other contact from the Operator for 30 days or more
- When the user falls under a case in which registration is refused under Article 3 (Registration)
- When the Operator otherwise determines that it is not appropriate for the user to continue using the Service or to keep the registration and the Service Agreement
Article 10 (Leaving the Service)
You can leave the Service at any time in the manner specified by the Operator.
When you leave, your registration is deleted.
How we handle your information after you leave is governed by Article 14 (Handling of User Information).
How we handle a supporter who leaves is governed by Article 11 (Annict Supporters).
Article 11 (Annict Supporters)
The Operator provides "Annict Supporters" ("Supporters") as the paid plan of the Service.
The fees and benefits of Supporters are listed on the Supporters page.
The conditions for subscription and billing are as follows:
- Supporters has a Monthly Plan and a Yearly Plan

- Until you cancel, the subscription renews automatically every month (Monthly Plan) or every year (Yearly Plan) from the subscription date, and you pay the fee at each renewal
- You pay the fees through the payment provider designated by the Operator (Stripe)
- If we cannot confirm your payment, we may stop providing the benefits
You can cancel at any time from the Supporters page.
Even after you cancel, you can use the benefits until the end of the period you have already paid for.
When that period ends, the benefits end and no further fees are charged.
Fees already paid are not refunded.
However, we refund them in cases caused by the Operator, such as a duplicate charge.
When you leave the Service, or when the Operator deletes your registration under Article 9 (Deletion of Registration, etc.), your subscription is canceled at that time.
The fee for the remaining period is not refunded.
The Operator may change the benefits or stop providing them.
When we stop providing Supporters, we will announce it on the Service in advance.
When you are no longer a supporter, you can no longer use the benefits, but the data you entered using the benefits (such as the watched date and time of records) remains.
Billing and cancellation of supporters who subscribed through the payment service "Gumroad" in the past are governed by Gumroad's rules.
Leaving the Service does not cancel your Gumroad subscription.
Article 12 (Changes to and Termination of the Service)

Reasons for changes include, for example, the following:
- To respond to the enactment or amendment of laws and regulations
- To keep the Service secure
- To reflect the operation of the Service or the addition, change, or termination of features
When we change these Terms, we will announce the content of the changed Terms and the effective date by the methods in Article 16 (Contact and Notices).
We will announce important changes that affect users at least 30 days before the effective date.
However, changes necessary to deal with urgent security risks or to comply with legal obligations may take effect earlier.
In that case, we will announce them promptly.
If you do not agree to a change, you can stop using the Service and leave it by the effective date.
If you use the Service after the effective date, you are deemed to have agreed to the change.
